Well, let me tell you that it isn't a walk in the park nor a picnic to set up a charitable trust that will help our local communities and its residents to have a better quality of life.
Mom and I met with a charitable trust/foundation attorney today, who went over my intended recipients. I am happy to say he approved of my choices and mentioned others that will certainly help our area communities.
I learned today that area food pantries are in desperate need of all types of food, and reading programs are in need of books and upgrades in technology, just to name a couple. So, these have been added to the soon to be charitable trust that I am drafting and implementing as soon as possible.
Mom wanted it named the Mott Charitable Trust that will keep on giving financial assistance to those in need in the communities of Masonville-my birth hometown, Sidney-my hometown of many years as well as Bainbridge. The Mott Charitable Trust will be readily available to finance the needs of these three communities, which have been such a big part of my life.
I am focusing all of my attention and energy on completing this trust in a most timely fashion, so if you don't see me blogging, don't worry as I am busy working for the good of us all.
One of my dreams is coming true with this charitable trust in that it will last for perpetuity. I have drafted a mission statement for the Mott Charitable Trust along with where the funds shall go and how much yearly, along with creating an Advisory Committee that will oversee the distribution of five percent of the trust no matter how much money is in the trust annually.
This is a major undertaking, but a necessary one for me and mom. I don't want her to have to "fuss" over these charitable funds. I want her to stop and smell the roses and enjoy life, thus the trust. She will help oversee it should something happen to me.
I feel at peace in making these life giving decisions that benefit those in need in my communities. Should something happen to me, then I can rest in peace knowing that I have played a small part in making other peoples' lives better. There can be no greater satisfaction than that for me.
If you should think of any other charitable works that the Mott Charitable Trust can do for others in our communities, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I may add these to my growing list. I want to cover as many bases as possible, so that it is a win-win situation for everyone.
Till I see you again, be well and know that I am thinking of you as this Mott Charitable Trust will help us all in so many ways.
