Return call involves splicing, lightning and wiring

Saturday started off fine until the phone started misbehaving. Noticing the same problems as before, I called Wendy pronto, hoping she could make another house call. Sure enough, she was in Bainbridge and would come over the hill to investigate the impossible phone dilemma.

In came Wendy with all her electronic gizmos, hiking up and down the stairs with Al. They came to the conclusion that they would reroute our DSL, so the fun began of finding all the phone wiring in our finished off basement, hiding in the overhead ceiling tiles. Once found, they tackled setting it up. All seemed well until everything crashed, phone line and computer. As Wendy acknowledged, she had not touched the phone wiring, only the wire for the DSL. So out she went to discover that out in one of the boxes down the road the wire had gone bad and had to be redone. Fate must have played a hand, because either way, we would have had to call her due to the internal and then the external problems. She repaired it despite the rainy conditions, claiming it was no big deal. I figured she would be a bit water logged and wondering why she gave me her personal phone numbers as she spent the afternoon solving our phone outage.

But that was not to be, as Al offered her a dozen of eggs to go. She insisted that Al did not have to give her the eggs, but graciously accepted them after Al reminded her to not to forget them. Quick as anything, she said, "O.K., Dad" and rolled her eyes like a true daughter. What a stitch she is. Her stories of battling vicious dogs and loony customers would make quite the reality show. Perhaps, Customers Gone Crazy or How to Defend Yourself From Attacking, Rabid Dogs and their Owners. I can't believe the conditions that Wendy has to work in and she does it with a smile and a sense of humor.

When duty calls, don't always answer it as you may find yourself in a major predicament.

And yes, Wendy called after work once again to make sure all was well on our line.
