My encounters and discussions with Medicare and BCBS PPO have been monumental and quite engaging. As I mentioned before, I end up in the endless loops of call here. I call here and then, they tell me call there. When I get to there, I am referred back to here. So, hear me now, this is crazy, though no crazier than the following conversation.
While in one of these limitless conversations about the benefits I would receive pending my lung transplant and explaining clearly that I was having a lung transplant, the agent started reading me a litany of what was covered. When she got to the donor's benefits rights, she said that my insurance would cover their stay in the hospital, homecare if need be, etc. She continued on in this same vein and finally, not knowing what to do, I interrupted her and said,"Now, Ma'am, the donor won't be alive because it is a lung transplant.""Oh," she said, "you have a point. Now, moving right along."
I was telling my cousin this whole episode and he replied, " Did you say to her, aren't you glad that you're not my donor?" Well, I about fell out of the chair I was perched on. My cousin always has a ready answer that invariably catches you by surprise and you can't help but laugh. He is good for my heart and soul as he sees the humor in many types of situations. Might I add, I didn't say that to her. We just continued on discussing the benefits.
May you find humor during challenging times.
