Mustang Jaci, Mustang Marge and Mustang Sally

Before I became sick, I always thought it would be, oh, so cool to drive a Mustang 66 on what is left of Route 66 out to California. Camera in hand, I wanted to document the sights of this piece of Americana like Charles Kuralt. Boy, did I enjoy all his travels and the genuine American people with a story to tell along America's life highway. Charles Kuralt had the talent to effortlessly get every day, ordinary people to talk about the extraordinary things they thought, accomplished, wished for, worked for in a way that the viewer wished s/he was right there living it, too or simply appreciating that person's life.

I always wished I had Charles Kuralt's job because for me, it wouldn't have been a job, but a joy. Discovering all those folks out there with different dreams, working hard to obtain them, persevering, despite obstacles being thrown their way. How could you not love this so called job? Bringing faith, hope, and love to the American people through the TV tube affirming what is great about American people would be a dream joy.

While chatting with my college friend, Jaci, we rediscovered our mutual interest in Mustangs. She has always had a Mustang of one sort or another. She had a Mustang 1970 that she kept going until one day, she was approached by a fellow, who wanted to buy it. Jaci gave great thought about what to do. After ruminating for awhile, she decided to sell it and invest in a new Mustang convertible that would allow her the ability to feel the wind in her hair, de-stress herself and plain just go cruising without fear of her Mustang breaking down on her.

Jaci said we shall go cruising in her Mustang when I get better. I whole heartedly agreed with her as I informed her of my Mustang 66. I told her I didn't know how to drive standard, but I would be learning after my transplant as I had places to go and people to see. We've decided we both will be driving our Mustangs. And naturally, we will be inviting Mustang Sally to join us. We are off to see her son play football this fall at Hartwick College, which is near to me.

I went to college in Rochester, where I met Jaci and now, her son is going to Hartwick College in Oneonta, which is near me now. Unbelievable or what? All I know is that we can't wait to make tracks with our Mustangs. Shall we plan a Mustang rendez-vous? I am so ready to hit that gas peddle and hit the highway running with my Mustang. I'll be the one you see in the fast lane cruising along and singing Mustang Sally at the top of my new lungs.

Come cruising with Jaci, me and Mustang Sally.

May you always feel the wind in your hair. If you don't, go for a spin in my Mustang 66 and you will.
