My niece just graduated from SUCO with a degree in teaching. She, too, has worked hard to put herself through college and will be getting married this summer. I am hoping I will be there with my new lungs and all, since I missed her graduation party. She is currently teaching-filling in for a teacher, who is out on medical leave. She is a great teacher and loving it.
Our family has been filled with teachers, from my grandmother, who taught in a one room school in Trout Creek, Cousin Giff, who taught in Sidney and the Micronesiun Islands-particularly, Cusai and myself-French. I loved my job and the kids and miss them terribly. Also, my colleagues were easy to work with.
I've been asked about being listed-what does that mean? Well, I am not on the FBI's most wanted! But, I am on a list for a lung transplant, which I am considered official and waiting for THE CALL asking me to come to Pittsburgh ASAP via Angel Flight. How long can that take? Well, it can be anywhere from today up to 3 months. There are a lot of people who have higher scores than me, who will be transplanted before me. However, a lot depends on chest cavity size, weight-ah, the prednisone helps you pack the weight on very easily, blood type and much more. The transplant coordinator mentions that I am not necessarily in competition with the other people seeking a transplant. This word, "competition" bothers me because in my eyes, it is not a competition. We all need to get well. When I see the teenagers and children on oxygen, my heart breaks. It is, so, not fair to them; they have not even had a chance to live. So, my cellphone is on and we are waiting for that life giving call.
May you always receive positive calls and not be in "competition" for life giving organs.
