listed

Happy to say that I am being listed for a double lung transplant pending insurance authorization. So, all the planning begins, which I had already started. Angel Flight has put out a call to area pilots to fly me to the Allegany County Airport, where I will be met by a car service to take me to the hospital. And then, the real "adventure" begins, the actually transplant, ventilator and then moving around. I can't wait to shed my cannula and breathe on my own. My doctor in Albany asked me what I planned on doing first after the transplant and I responded, I wanted to go for a long walk. I said to Al and mom was that the correct answer?!!

Angel Flight is truly that and more. The pilots volunteer their time and aircraft to fly transplant patients 24/7 at no cost to the patient. It is a wonderful program for us as we are financially challenged already due to medical costs. It must be rewarding for the pilots to be able to help all of us souls, who are need of a "lift". These pilots will be helping me to get a new set of "wings" so that I can fly too. They are a blessing.

May you keep on flying with the wind beneath your wings.

Hi Marge,
I think of the first thing I'd want to do if I have to have a transplant. Ride a bicycle. I used to love to do that. Take a long walk sounds like a good answer, too. Now if you had said "smoke a cigarette" they might not like that so much. hee hee :-)

Hi Michelle,
Here's to you riding your bike again. Boy, can we come up with lots of things we would like to do.
Ah, no, I will not be smoking. Have you ever noticed all the healthcare workers, who smoke? I have to walk through a haze of gray, blue smoke to get into the hospital.
